Gasherbrum IV 7,925 meters (26,001 feet)

Details

Gasherbrum IV is the 17th highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 7,925 meters (26,001 feet). Gasherbrum IV is located in the Karakoram range on the border between Pakistan and China. Gasherbrum IV is part of the Gasherbrum massif which includes six peaks above 7,000 meters. Gasherbrum IV was first climbed in 1958 by an Italian expedition led by Riccardo Cassin. The team included Walter Bonatti and Carlo Mauri, who made the final ascent to the summit. The climb was notable for its difficulty and technical challenge with the team facing steep ice and rock faces. Gasherbrum V is still not a well-known peak after many climbers successfully summited it. The peak is less renowned for climbers than its nearby summits including Gasherbrum IV and Gasherbrum II because of its hidden location and its challenging climb to the base camp.
