K12 is a mountain range in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan which is part of the Karakoram mountain range. K12 peak is also known as Chogolisa. K12 is one of the most challenging peaks in the world to climb due to its steep and complex landscape. The first climbed K12 by a Japanese team under the direction of Yoshio Ogata in 1974. The team member consisted of 10 climbers including Tsuneo Shigehiro, Y Ishizaka, and H Watanabe. K12 was one of the first peaks in the Karakoram range above 7,600 meters (24,934 feet) to be successfully climbed and it was considered an important victory in mountaineering history. Many climbers attempts have attempted to climb K12 since the first ascent but very few have been successful. It takes a lot of technical skill and expertise to attempt the peak's climbing route due to its difficulty of route. The K12 route has technical aspects requiring attentive management and a high level of physical fitness and as well as steep ice and rock climbing. K12 still attracts some of the best climbers in the world and thousands of attempts are made to reach the summit each year. Trekking routes of the K12 ascend to the mountain's base camp and the mountain is also a well-liked place for hiking and trekking. Adventure seekers frequently choose the climb to the K12 base camp because it offers breathtaking views of the mountain and its surrounding glaciers.
