Broad Peak 8,047 meters (26,401 feet)

Details

The Broad Peak is the 12th highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,047 meters (26,401 feet) and is in the Karakoram range and located on the border between China and Pakistan. British explorer Martin Conway gives its name "Broad Peak" in 1892, due to the broad summit it possesses. Broad Peak was first ascent in 1957 by an Austrian expedition accompanied by Marcus Schmuck and Fritz Wintersteller, along with a Pakistani climber, Nazir Sabir. The team climbed the west ridge of the mountain and reached the summit on June 9, 1957. Since then, there have been several successful ascents of Broad Peak, via various routes on the mountain. Broad Peak is known for its stunning size and steep, rocky landscape and is part of the "eight-thousanders" a group of 14 peaks above 8,000 meters (26,247 feet) in elevation. Even with its height, the 12th highest Broad Peak mountain most climbers considered a less technical climb than some of the other 8000m+ peaks, with the main challenge being the altitude and harsh weather conditions. The Broad Peak mountain remains the most popular destination for experienced mountaineers and climbers, who try to find challenge themselves on one of the highest peaks in the world.
