Nanga Parbat Peak is the ninth-highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,126 meters (26,660 feet) and is located in Pakistan one of the most beautiful regions of Gilgit Baltistan. The name "Nanga Parbat" so-called "Naked Mountain" in Urdu, due to its naked, stony appearance. Nanga Parbat was first climbed in 1953 by a team of Austrian climbers led by Hermann Buhl, who climbed the mountain solo without supplemental oxygen. The team climbed via the Rakhiot Face, which is on the southern side of the mountain. The climb was notable for its technical difficulty and the extreme altitude, as well as Buhl's achievement of climbing the peak alone. Nanga Parbat is known for its steep, imposing terrain and extreme weather conditions. The Nanga Parbat Peak is infamous for its high mortality rate, due to which it is called "Killer Mountain." Nanga Parbat remains the most popular destination for climbers and experienced mountaineers who want to find to test their skills and tolerance on one of the highest peaks in the world in spite of its challenges.
