Skardu is hidden away in the Karakoram mountain range in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan. Being that there are no direct flights from important Pakistani cities getting to Skardu can be a little difficult. Visitors often take a domestic flight to the adjacent airport in Gilgit and then take a car trip to Skardu from there which takes around 24 hours.
